  • Mickey Mahaffey; Farmer at Barefoot Seeds

APRIL 2014
We traveled to Prescott, AZ to interview Dr. Wayne Coates, author of CHIA: The Complete Guide to the Ultimate Superfood .
We also traveled to Phoenix, AZ to interview Dr. Maria Teresa-Cerqueira; Chief of Pan American Health Organization.

SEPTEMBER 2013
The third filming location was at the National Heirloom Exposition in Santa Rosa, CA. We interviewed several farmers, seed saving specialists, and authors! Some of which have studied the Tarahumara diet and food practices. Others provided key narration on how we grow food more sustainably and live healthier lives.

JULY 2013
The second filming location was during the heat of the Summer in Tucson, AZ. We interviewed seed saving specialists at Native Seeds / SEARCH. Additionally, we filmed inside of their Seed Bank which was full of Tarahumara ancient seeds that Native Seeds  / SEARCH has been working to preserve for many years.

MARCH 2013
The first filming location for Goshen was in the remote depths of the Copper Canyons in Mexico. The Tarahumara people, recognized as the most traditional remaining indigenous society in all of North America, were documented because epidemiological research shows they are devoid of the top 3 modern diseases: type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. The Tarahumara's ability to prevent certain diseases is believed to be a direct result of their ancient diet and their active way of life. In March 2013, we explored the diet practices of the Tarahumara -- from heirloom seed saving and meal preparation, to food preservation and communal dining.
